How Calmare works

Migraines involve the trigeminal nerve sending pain signals to the brain, blood vessels changing pressure, and the nervous system becoming hypersensitive to light, sound, and touch. Regular headaches are typically caused by muscle tension, stress, or eye strain.Calmera targets the physical experience of both. Air CompressionSix airbags apply rhythmic pressure across your forehead, temples, and eye area. For migraines, compression reduces the pain signals the trigeminal nerve sends. For headaches, it releases the muscle tension causing the pressure — the same way pressing on a tense muscle helps it relax. Heat Therapy (Optional)Gentle warmth at 45–55°C loosens the muscles around your head and temples and calms your nervous system. If heat feels like too much during an intense attack, use compression only.

How to use Calmare

Step 1 — Put It On Place Calmera One over your head so it covers your forehead, temples, and eyes. Adjust the band until it feels comfortable and secure. Press the power button to start.

Step 2 — Choose Your Heat Setting
Off — Compression only. Best during intense attacks when heat feels like too much, or if you simply prefer no warmth.

Low — 45°C / 113°F Best for first-time use, sensitive skin, or recovery after a migraine has passed.

Medium — 50°C / 122°C The most used setting. Warm enough to relax deeper muscle tension without discomfort.

High — 55°C / 131°F For heavy, tight pressure headaches. Not recommended during peak migraine sensitivity or for first-time use.

Step 3 — Let It Work
During a migraine — 15 to 20 minutes Recovery after a migraine — 15 to 20 minutes Daily tension relief — 10 to 15 minutes Before sleep — 15 minutes on Low or Off

I tried literally everything

The moment I see the aura coming, I put Calmare on immediately. It does not stop the aura but it takes the edge off before the pain peaks. I used to just lie in a dark room helpless. Now I feel like I have something I can actually do.

The headaches nobody warned me about.

When menopause hit, the headaches came with it. Hormonal, relentless, and completely different from anything I had experienced before. My doctor had no real answer. I found Calmare out of desperation and it has become the one thing that consistently takes the pressure down.

How Calmare works

Brain diagram showing pain pathways during migraine attack and after using Calmare
Scientific Explanation

During a migraine attack, the trigeminal pain pathway and brainstem become overactivated — amplifying pain signals throughout the head. Calmare targets the trigeminal nerve branches at the surface, where compression and heat can intercept these signals before they escalate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Some of the most asked question, answered

Migraines are a neurological condition and we do not claim otherwise. What Calmare targets is the physical experience of an attack — the trigeminal nerve pathways, vascular pressure, and muscle tension that make a migraine unbearable. It does not stop the neurological process. It meaningfully reduces how much it hurts while it passes. That distinction matters, and we stand behind it.

Yes, heat is completely optional — turn it off and use compression only. Many users prefer this during intense attacks when the head feels hot and sensitive.

On cooling: building active cold therapy directly into a wearable device is an engineering problem with no elegant solution. True cooling requires the same technology as a refrigerator or air conditioning unit — compressors, refrigerants, and significant power.

The result would be a device that is bulky, loud, and tethered to a power source. For a migraine sufferer who cannot tolerate sound or pressure, that is the opposite of what helps.

Instead, we offer Calmare Ice Plus — a cooling gel mask that freezes in 1 to 2 hours and sits underneath Calmare One. You get cold compression therapy without the noise, the bulk, or the engineering compromise. If you add Calmare One to your cart, you will see the option to add Calmare Ice Plus at a discount before checkout.

Calmare operates quietly. The airbags inflate and deflate with a soft, low rhythm — not a mechanical buzz or vibration. Sound-sensitive users specifically mention this as one of the reasons they can tolerate it during an active attack when other devices were too disruptive.

Calmare works well for migraines with and without aura, tension headaches, hormonal migraines, stress headaches, eye strain headaches, sinus headaches, postdrome headaches, cervicogenic headaches, and menopausal headaches. For vestibular migraines, cluster headaches, and hemiplegic migraines, results vary more — which is exactly why the 100-day guarantee exists.

Calmare is non-invasive and drug-free — no electrical current, no magnets, no chemicals. However, if you have a VP shunt, brain aneurysm, have undergone DBS surgery, have a cranial neurostimulator, have recently had eye surgery including cataract or glaucoma surgery, or are pregnant, please consult your doctor before use. Your safety comes first.

If Calmare does not deliver the relief you need within 100 days of purchase, contact us at info@calmare.com with your order number. You will receive a full refund once you send us the proof of return. The guarantee expires 7 days after the 100-day window closes.

Most devices on the market either vibrate or use cheap mechanical rollers that press into your head with fixed, uncontrolled force. Vibration during a migraine is often the last thing a sufferer can tolerate. Mechanical rollers apply blunt pressure without any ability to adjust to the shape of your head.

Calmare uses airbags. Six of them, positioned precisely over the trigeminal, supraorbital, temporal, and occipital nerve pathways. Airbags inflate and deflate with smooth, rhythmic pressure that conforms to your head — not against it. The pressure is controlled, consistent, and adjustable. That is not a design detail. It is the reason the relief feels different from anything else you have tried.

No other consumer device targets all four migraine nerve pathways simultaneously with airbag compression and optional heat in one wearable system.

Yes. Tension headaches are caused directly by muscle tightness in the forehead and temples — exactly where Calmare's compression zones sit. For sinus headaches, the combination of compression and heat helps relieve the pressure that builds across the forehead and above the eyes. Many users find it most immediately effective for tension-type pain.
